I was thrilled by Juan’s project from the moment we started discussing it, 23 years ago!. We had to work with several constraints—a single location and a small crew. The bar was set incredibly high—cinematography, lighting, editing, and animation all had to meet that standard. I rented an Arri SR3 camera and shot on Kodak 500T film stock. The edit was done in Final Cut Pro, with additional animation support from Adobe After Effects.

Bio
Iván López is a visual artist and audiovisual producer born in Mexico City, with over twenty years of experience in media and digital arts. He holds a Master’s in Inter- and Transdisciplinary Arts from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (2023), a degree in Communication from Universidad de las Américas-Puebla (1994), and pursued graduate studies in Film and Video (1997-1999) at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
His work explores the intersection of technology, image, and narrative—merging video, sound, artificial intelligence, and documentary strategies. With a strong focus on experimentation, his creative practice includes performance, video art, short film, and generative media.
Since 2014, he has collaborated with Kidz Korner Studio as a trainer and installer of optical motion capture (MoCap) systems, supporting universities and research institutions throughout Mexico and Latin America. He is also a contributing photographer for iStock by Getty Images since 2020. Recently, his work has expanded into AI-based creation and enhancement of visuals, video, and sound, exploring new hybrid workflows for artistic and professional applications.

Maestro en Artes Inter y Transdisciplinariedad por parte de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (2023). Comunicólogo por la Universidad de las Américas-Puebla (1994). Nace en la Ciudad de México. Productor audiovisual, con una trayectoria de más de veinte años. En su obra confluyen lo artístico fruto de la experimentación con sonido y video, lo digital y el enfoque documentalista. Su obra artística se caracteriza por su interdisciplinariedad y la exploración de géneros audiovisuales como el performance, el cortometraje y el videoarte. Expuso en el Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil (1994); 15 Videastas Contemporáneos, Galería Oboro (1995 Montreal, Canadá) y la Cineteca Nacional. Se trata de un arte influido inicialmente por la visión experimental del video de Rafael Corkidi y las técnicas de instalación de Bill Viola, quienes inspiraron su primera obra, Anomalías de la Visión, ganadora de una residencia artística en el Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil. En 1994 organizó 3 Camotes 3, 1era. Muestra de Performance en Puebla. Entre los reconocimientos que su obra ha recibido están el primer lugar en la Bienal de Radio Latinoamericano (1995) y Premio Deutsche Welle, categoría radioarte, y beca FONCA/FOESCAP, por el cortometraje Los Sentimientos y las Cosas (2004). Posteriormente, ha evolucionado hacia las tendencias y técnicas emergentes en la producción digital, modelado y animación tridimensional. Su última pieza de video fue Noche en el Agua (2021), video instalación en el Museo Regional de Antropología Carlos Pellicer Cámara Villahermosa, Tabasco. Yván López es colaborador de Kidz Korner Studio (2014) como entrenador e instalador en sistemas de captura de movimiento óptico (MoCap por siglas en inglés). En esta labor se dedica a la instalación, capacitación y aplicación de esta tecnología para instituciones de investigación y educación superior en diversos estados del país y Latinoamérica. A la par es colaborador como fotógrafo de i Stock by Getty Images de 2020 a la fecha.
